New Environmental Options for your Dungster - Leachate Traps and Solar Power
New optons include Leachate Traps, Solar Power and Loading Ramps. These items improve the use and function of the Dungster Composter.
Solar Powered Blowers
- For those with no on-site power or those who want to operate off-the-grid.
- Design utilizes marine grade products, components and wiring for a long service life.
- No inverter is necessary as the blower and blower control is direct current (DC) not alternating current (AC).
- Two solar panels provide for rapid recharging of the batteries even in the winter months of lessened daylight hours.
- Marine grade 12-volt, deep cycle batteries alone supply power during nighttime and heavy snow periods for round-the-clock aeration.
- The autonomic period is dependent upon the duty-cycle.
- Should batteries become depleted, the controller will automatically switch off the blower load until solar panels can recharge the batteries to their designed voltage. The system automatically restarts.
- An optional cellular module can permit remote monitoring from anywhere a web connection is avalaible.
Leachate Trap
Composting often generates a liquid discharge called leachate. Leachate is nutrient rich and brown in color. Discharging this into the public waterways is to be avoided. Some composting methods minimally control leachate with channels directing it to surface catch basins. These can be problematic with foul appearance, odors, and vectors. Dungster facilitates three leachate management methods for Dungster owners/operators. All three are possible because a dumpster, used as the host vessel for the Dungster in-vessel composting method, only permits liquid to be discharged at the door as the rest of the dumpster is a welded solid box.
Laod Ramps
With Dungster's Ramp-it-Up loading kit your daily chores place the manure and soiled bedding directly into the Dungster Composter in one movement eliminating multiple "touches" and avoiding manure lying upon the ground potentially leaching nutrients into the environment. This also eliminates operating a piece of power equipment, like a tractor, during daily chores. This provides a lower carbon footprint and inheritly improved safety for all the people and animals at the farm. This is an great help for the full-board owner/operator who has limited time.
